  6.      Brush trays and brush 
  7. rests  serve  identical 
  8. functions,  being used  as 
  9. somewhere to lay the brush 
  10. down  for  a  while  when 
  11. writing. The only difference
  12. between  the two is in their
  13. shape.   This  example  is 
  14. made  from   two  sections 
  15. of bamboo which have been
  16. cut in half,  placed facing
  17. upwards and  glued together.
  18. The    diaphragm   of   the 
  19. bamboo   joint   has   been 
  20. carved   away   slightly  to
  21. accommodate  the  stems  of 
  22. the brushes.
